I'm using Thunderbird beta (currently 131.0b6) and since the penultimate version, no mail appear in the list of mails anymore. The count of new mails is displayed but not the mails themselves. (Last mail to date: 18/09/2024 at 15:33 – more than 40 mails received since that date, all having been counted but never displayed)

What I checked:

- imap configuration - message filters - deletion of .msf files (with thbd closed) -> all old emails disappear - forced sync of trash and junk folders - displayed unread folders, including 'Show / discusions / ignored' - created empty profiles in the beta version (Debian 12 and Windows 11) => same issue - opened a ticket on Bugzilla (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1920376)

 I created an empty profile in the stable version (128.2.3esr on Win11 & Debian 12) => no problem

I have a Mircosoft live.com email account, using Thunderbird 128.2.3esr as my email app on a home computer running Win10. Got emails from MS about updating to OAuth2 authentification. After changing to Oauth2 in Server Setting Oauth2 would not show up in SMTP server (could receive but not send mail). Following MS instructions I deleted my account and added it back (apparently a big mistake). After a lot of hassle I now have Oauth2 set up on both Server and SMTP & can receive & send email, but I can not see my folders, only the default Inbox, Sent, Trash and Local Folders - Trash & Outbox. View/Folders has "All Folders" checked (& it is grayed out). I had dozens of folders with probably thousands of emails. If I go into my TB profile I can drill down and see the names of folders that were added in the last couple of months, so I think the folders are still in my profile where they should be. Any ideas on how to see my folders?

After updating Thunderbird per yahoo recent instructions (deleting email account & reinstalling), my received emails display in yahoo but not in Thunderbird. Thunderbird displays it is receiving emails and the account receiving the email, but does not store them for display.

Since Thunderbird updated me to the latest a few days ago Sept. 2024 I can't send messages out on Thunderbird - only if I sign in online via Google Mail. But I don't like the complicated setup online. How soon can the new Thunderbird mail system work! I've used it for years and its so easy! I get messages when I try to sign in [required to sign in via Google] that Thunderbird is malformed [or some such term]

All working fine for years. Several months ago, maybe after an update, my sent items folder is not displaying the list of items. The counter showing the number of items in that folder sows over 200 now and it does increment the counter when I send a new message. I search and found a couple of recommended fixes, but none of them work. I went to the file location where the data is stored, and it indeed contains tons of text. Selecting "rebuild folder" just seems to hang. Short of backing up all my data and removing / reinstaling the app, is there anything else I can try?

I recently downloaded Thunderbird, and I have been receiving my emails without any issues. However, I cannot move any emails I want to save to my folders. Can anyone give me assistance? I am not very tech savvy, so please be gentle. I was using MS Outlook while working, now that I have retired, I needed a new program and Thunderbird was recommended. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Attached is a picture of the relevant setting where you can see it is indeed set to move deleted emails to a specified folder. I am using Thunderbird 128.2.3esr 64bit on Fedora 40 and a gmail email address. I can also not find any other settings that may be affecting this.

One of my gmail account inboxes got a message "Authentification failure while connecting to server imap.gmail.com". I tried to repair the inbox and now all messages are gone. My other gmail accounts are receiving new messages.

How can I place/move entire intact folders already full of messages into Archives, instead of message-by-message? Related: how can I create new folders in Archives?

I have reinstalled Thunderbird 3 times in past 3 months (just 2 days ago) but still my drafts keep disappearing or the heading (tittle) is empty. Why? And how do I get my drafts back? I have tried "saving" to the draft folder, but the emails disappear or the heading is empty. There is a good deal of work in the emails that I would love to get back. I am running the latest Thunderbird and on Windows 10/11 and everything is up to date. How do I fix this and get my work back. Thank you for your help. Richard

I am testing a private POP3 mail server, so I set up an account in Thunderbird for it. I set it to check for email every minute.

I have since shut the server down, but Thunderbird is giving me no warning that it is unable to fetch new messages for the account, which I find surprising.

What is the expected behaviour?

After each restart of Thunderbird, many email tabs appear with empty blank content. Imagine having many open tabs with emails and having to manually search for these emails and reopen them and close the blank email Tabs after every restart to see the content. It's simply hilarious.

And I've had this problem for a year now. Even after a complete reinstallation of e.g. Linux Mint. I have already switched to a Thunderbird fork on Windows, which does not have these problems.

Last night (9/23/2024), Thunderbird began presenting a screen (see attached) requiring me to sign in to contine to Mozilla Thunderbird Email. At the top of the screen is a "Sign in with Google" line. However, there is nowhere to sign into anything. My correct email is displayed but no entry for a password.

Clicking "Next" takes you to an Error 400 screen. There is no "Close" button and the only way out of the screen is to hit "Esc," which takes me to my Email account. After a short bit, the screen refreshes back to that " sign in to contine to Mozilla Thunderbird" screen. After one or two more uses of :Esc, I can get back control of my laptop.

Meanwhile, Thunderbird is frozen--mail doesn't update, and any attempt to use T-Bird returns me to the sign in cycle. Win 11; TB ver, 128.2.3esr (32-bit); server security imap.gmail.com, port 993, outgoing server smtp.google.com, authentication OAuth2. I've accepted cookies and javascript and closed my VPN. can't figure what to do next.

I am still paying for websites, just to keep my emails going but it sure is expensive with it being personal now. I don't store my emails with the current host, they just play middleman, receive the emails and ship them off to my Thunderbird. I store them on my computer and my external harddrive. Can you tell me how either I can host my own emails or a really reasonable priced email host? I don't want to loose these emails. The ones that mostly got used by the businesses have been dissolved. But the ones we are getting personal emails threw, we want to keep. Please advise.... thank you for your time and dedication to helping. Judi

Hello, sorry, but Thunderbird has been a real pain for a few months! It takes up to 10!!! starts for everything to display correctly. I'm really thinking about changing. See the crazy screenshots! Best Regards Ronnie

When using Thunderbird, the program continually crashes and hangs up my computer.

I frequently use the task manger to try to stop the crash, but this only helps about 30% of the time. Usually I have to reboot.

I have a Surface Pro 8 with Windows 11. I have version 128.2.3esr (64-bit) installed, but this problem has continued through several versions.

This problem happens frequently when I click on the icons to write an e-mail, reply to an e-mail, or if I search for an e-mail. These are the three functions that cause this (as far as I know).

I removed all add-ons.

I cleared the cache.

I tried running Thunderbird in Trouble Shooting mode.

None of these things resolved the problem.

I would appreciate help/advice with this.

Hi,

One of my mailboxes has more than 40GB is on an IMAP server, and all thunderbird runs very slow because of it. I tried to clean this mailbox but it keeps downloading deleted messages. Please help :(
