I am trying to recover a FireFox session from a backup of my C:\ drive from a few months ago, but I am blocked by "access denied". No matter what I have tried, access is always denied. I an using FireFox version 149.0 on Windows 10, and am trying to manually make the substitution in the folder C:\Users\...profiles\318tzbcg.default-release\sessionstore-backups.

I have tried the substitution with FireFox totally shut down (checked in Process Explorer) and even after a reboot. I am blocked from copying any of the current files to another folder or to rename them (as a precursor to (hopefully) replacing them), much less over-copying them with files from my drive backup.

I have tried from an this with CMD (run as administer) in my normal user account (which has admin privileges anyway) and with an actual Administrator account. In my User account I have verified for the properties of the Profile and sessionstore-backups folders that all of the accesses are ticked as allowed for write and read (except Special Access is not ticked). The section with the tick boxes is greyed-out (with those boxes checked), and I cannot untick any of them or put a tick on Special Access.

(I am writing this from a different machine, so have not clicked the Share Data button (troubleshooting information) on this submission form, but can provide that later from that machine,)

What can I do to get the needed access (permissions) to substitute a recovered sessionstore.jsonlz4, recovery.json4lz or previous.json4lz file?

Hello This evening as I was going to pay for a book on a site well known to me, I notice that I don’t see a lock to the left of the address. I read your page 'Mixed content blocking in Firefox' after seeing that its little French sister was not up to date and it seems that it is the version of Firefox installed tonight that is behind this big change. Even my bank’s site no longer shows padlocks and it’s destabilizing. Why such a change without explanation??? I only read information about the split view in the same tab (which seems very useful) but nothing about this disappearance of the lock... Can you confirm that it is indeed the version from tonight 27/03/2026 that made this change at first glance worrying.

How do I get the star I can click to show list of bookmarks? Just installed Firefox on new laptop and friendly star is missing. Had same problem years ago but Firefox popped up with the answer before I had to ask

I've been using alt+a to open new tabs in a multi account container for a long time. Recently that shortcut stopped working possibly with the update to v148 as indicated in this reddit thread.

alt+a is not listed as a shortcut in about:keyboard or in about:addons > manage extension shortcuts or in my ubuntu shortcuts nor in any software I can think of thats running. I've disabled all add-ons except multi account containers and it still does not work. Changing the shortcut to another works fine.

Why would just that shortcut stop working? What else can I do to diagnose the problem?

I previously accidentally removed notification permissions from discord. I'm trying to reanable them, but even when i enable the settings in discord firefox will not give me the popup to turn on notifications. when i click on the usual permissions tab myself it simply does not show the notifications option. they are not blocked in my firefox settings, and other sites like youtube and twitter work perfectly fine

Hi, since the new update the shortcuts/search buttons on the smaller search box (desktop, windows) are gone, and I can't figure out how to get them back, nor can I find anyone asking about the same issue so far. It's happened on every device that's gotten the update. I added a screenshot so you know what I mean. There were always shortcut buttons under the textbox, so I can quickly search in google maps or wikipedia etc. but now there's only the dropdown menu. on the left. I used those buttons a lot so I definitely want those back! Thanks

Hi Love Firefox and use it every day to manage clients Google Ads accounts. Updated to latest version and now I'm getting this warning when I'm trying to access ads.google.com Doesn't appear that I can add an exception, is there a work around that I can use. Look forward to hearing back. Thanks in advance

Some extensions I use have been updated and now ask permission to "Access your data for all websites." What is the scope of this access? Can an extension which facilitates video downloads see my bank password? Can it access data for sites in a different Firefox container? Can it access sites which I use in a different browser? Can it access data for sites which, on my system, are only available to a different user? Thanks for any clarification. [I am running Firefox 149.0 under Kubuntu 24.04]

Firefox is causing my wifi adapter to shut down

Running firefox for any length of time will shut down my wifi adapter at a random moment. The only solution is reboot

Using opera, the problem does not occur, I can run opera continuously without problem. Running firefox at anytime will cause the fail at some point.

Im running windows 11 I have run firefox in safe mode Disabled all addons Set to “No Proxy” Disabled power saving on the adapter Replaced firefox with the ESR version 140.8 , previous version was the latest I note that there are up to 11 firefox process instances in task manager (all cleared when firefox is shut down) Firefox is set to update automatically Several updates have occured during this problem Disabled hardware acceleration Cleared cache Latest wifi driver And a few more that I cant recollect at the moment

I use the Firefox Search bar a lot (the one that has a magnifying glass). The latest version of Firefox's Search bar seems different and the magnifying glass has been replaced by an icon of my default search engine. Although the old and new Search bar are very similar, the newer one has a larger font, and the search options on the drop down menu have a magnifying glass next to it. It also takes up more space on the browser (not as packed) which I don't like as much. Is there a way to revert to the previous version of the search bar? The first pic is the new search bar and the second is the older version.

This is from Cabelas.com but I am getting it more and more from other web sites. American Airlines, Delta.com, etc. I accessed the help and did all the steps about fingerprinting and turning off "enhanced tracking protection" and nothing helps. Any ideas? Don't like the idea of using Chrome or Edge, but Firefox is almost unusable for me now. If I have to keep using another browser for the sites, may as well just use that one only.

When I try to make a Google search I get the following message, "I'm not a robot" with a reCAPTCHA: "Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. This page checks to see if it's really you sending the requests, and not a robot. Why did this happen?". This happens on Firefox, but not Chrome or Edge. If I 'Allow' Google in the 'Exceptions - Cookies and Site Data' then I do not get the message, but it takes several seconds for Google display the resulting page. However, if I delete the cookies/cache the message will return and I have to redo the reCAPTCHA. I have scanned with Malwarebytes, Bitdefender, Hitman Pro, Trend Micro House Call and Microsoft Defender, nothing detected. Running Win 10 (64) with 'Extended Security Updates', Firefox 147.0 (64), no additional Extensions or Plugins. Also I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox.

When using DuckDuckGo Search I cannot drag and drop the search URL into my Bookmarks. I can drag and drop a Google Chrome search URL into my Bookmarks as usual. Also, the correct URL is not shown for the search using DuckDuckGo. See attached screenshot.

Please resolve.

Why has the content provided on the Firefox homepage gone so extremely liberal? It appears to be more of a source for tabloid trash than a source for factual news, honest articles and positive content! After recommending this platform for years, I am appalled by the apparent intent to present divisive articles and rhetoric. Suggest you do a better job of choosing information that will make Firefox excel over Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge... not rool in the mud with them!
