I am experiencing a consistent and disruptive performance issue that occurs immediately after certain complex web pages (particularly those with heavy scripting or dynamic content) have fully loaded.

The symptom is a temporary but complete freeze of the Firefox window, often lasting between 5 to 10 seconds, during which time the browser is completely unresponsive. This freeze is accompanied by a significant spike in CPU usage (often reaching 90-100%, according to Task Manager/Activity Monitor).

Details:

Trigger: The freeze reliably occurs right after the page status changes from "Loading" to "Done." I suspect it is related to post-load scripting execution or rendering finalization.

Impact: Any ongoing user interaction is halted until the spike subsides.

Tested Scenarios: I have replicated this on multiple sites, including heavy news aggregators, social media feeds, and complex web applications.

Troubleshooting: This issue persists even after:

Clearing cache and cookies.

Running Firefox in Safe Mode (disabling all extensions).

Creating a new, clean Firefox profile.

This severely degrades the browsing experience, especially when quickly navigating between tabs or starting a session.

Could you please investigate potential issues within the core rendering engine or script execution scheduler that might be causing these severe post-load processing bottlenecks?

my delete history has not been working since yesterday. I have not changed anything to my knowledge in settings so please help in correcting this. I have looked at settings and not sure if something changed or ?

I have not used private settings at all.

Firefox is my default browser. The problems have arisen from around December 27th 2025. Till then everything worked smoothly. The first problem is that if I go to google.com then search for say , “Wordle”. The search output is displayed on the screen but when I click on the search result, it does not go anywhere- nothing happens.

The second issues, is till the problem cropped up, I had set google.com as the custom url for home page and windows through settings, home, and had used an extension, “ New tab override” available from Firefox, to set every new tab to open as google.com The url for the webpage works but the new tab override does not. I have tried removing the extension but problem 1 persists.

The third issue is that I have subscriptions to newspapers and had set up the logins. These newspapers are in my bookmarks. When I click on the bookmark the main page opens but the login area is missing. It tells me to get a subscription. e.g., among others, NY times, Uniqlo gb, the Turnitin of my university will not load although I am logged in to the university. I have cleaned all cookies, removed all extension including Ad blockers to fix the problem, tried resetting all to default setting but nothing works. Would appreciate any help you can provide. In order to connect to Amazon using Firefox on my PC, I am required to scan a QR code with my phone and then, presumably, connect via Firefox or Amazon apps (instructions woefully unclear). It NEVER works. It's no big deal, but it is annoying, particularly since I want to use Firefox as my default browser. I can always connect via Google or Edge. For those of us who aren't tech savvy, why don't you add standard two-factor authentication or Windows Hello as an option?

All my bookmarks and toolbar have disappeared. Even new url(s) that I bookmark do not show up. I have followed many recommendations from Mozilla to no avail. Need help from a very frustrated user.

Windows 10 and cannot upgrade to 11. Firefox is current.

Pages began to open slowly so restarted computer, which fixed that issue but the bookmarks (happens often), Bitwarden & Instapaper icons were missing from the toolbar. I managed to retrieve the bookmarks but while attempting to restore the icons, the puzzle icon disappeared, which, after many hours I did manage to retrieve.

The boxes that open after right-clicking on the gear or puzzle icons do not match what the multiple online help suggestions show (I cannot take a screenshot of what I see in my drop down menus). I have deleted and reinstalled Instapaper and Bitwarden to no avail. Multiple suggestions from Bitwarden emails did not work and they suggested that it may be a Firefox issue.

Also, videos will not load but will load on Microsoft Edge.

I use an older dell remote monitor with my Dell laptops. When using my new Windows 11 laptop on the internet the text on the remote monitor fluctuates between is light colored and broken appearance to normal over the course of 5 to 30 seconds, back and forth. Text appears normal on the laptop monitor AND appears normal on both monitors when using edge browser. I wan to keep using firefox. Solutions?

I've been using the expanding side bar feature for my tabs, and a few times now it has gotten stuck closed (won't expand at all on hover) or open (blocking the settings bar which expands behind it, and there seems to be only one way to resolve it - closing out of the whole window and re-opening). This is frustrating and not great for productivity as I need to toggle between tabs frequently for my work.

In the search bar (I’m not sure about its official name), my previous searches used to appear as suggestions before Google’s own suggestions. However, since I changed my default search engine from Google US to Google UK, it no longer seems to remember the searches I make. I’ve tried switching back to Google US, but that didn’t restore the behavior. Do you have any idea how to fix this?

For example, I previously searched for “things to see in Latvia”, which is why it appears as a suggestion in the screenshot. But if I now search for “things to see in Louvre Museum” and then try the same search again a few hours or days later, it isn’t saved and therefore doesn’t appear as a suggestion.

I used to log into my Vanguard account until, maybe one month ago. Now it requires me to take a picture of a square box with my mac desktop computer. Don't know how to do that. Can I use the old Fire Fox update?

I've imported my boockmarks as an HTML file from my windows10 PC to my new Windows11 PC. they are in a folder marked bookmarks Toolbar, but they aren't on it. How do I get them onto the toobar?

I seemed to have lost all my decades of bookmarks on my Mac Firefox browser. Initially i thought it was just the bookmarks toolbar ones, then i realised it was all historical ones as well.

If i select "Manage bookmarks", they are all gone If i then select "Restore" followed by "choose file" nothing happens, no option to select anything

If i click on the far left had "star icon" and try and search for a bookmark, nothing is there either.

The only extention i have enabled is the malewarebytes browser guard Not installed anything else I generally have a lot of tabs open and they all seem to have re-appeared after the last firefox update and unplanned powercut. My account logged in icon is showing, i can still see all my saved passwords etc.

Any help would be apreciated, there is literally over 15 years worth i've lost
