Have used the SeaMonkey suite for my email since Netscape. It seems the latest version SeaMonkey will not work with Apple’s latest OS on my MacBook Air, and is unlikely to be modified to work. So, my plan was to use Thunderbird, but when I Google to see if it (Thunderbird) is compatible I get an AI generated message that the Thunderbird team is working on a new Apple compliant version. Searching this forum I can find no reference to any Apple compatible version. Anyone with updates on Thunderbird versions that will work on my MacBook Air and the macOS Tahoe Currently happy enough with macOS Sonoma and SeaMonkey, but the nags to upgrade are annoying Thank you for your time Cheers Ralph

(Or) now 80 percent of the time, I hover over the bookmark folder, they don't expand, so I click on the folder to expand it, and 90 percent of the time, the links in the folder do nothing when clicked on. They won't even get highlighted, (selected) I restart firefox, and all works again, for about 10 seconds, and problem occurs again. It goes without saying it gets real frustrating restarting firefox over and over and over again to use another bookmark. I've never experienced this before. This only happens for me on firefox for Linux Mint 22.1. Firefox on windows 11 does not exhibit this problem. Please help, thanks. Cheers...

I am requesting immediate assistance with a critical and persistent problem in Thunderbird.

For my Google Workspace account max@dantanas.com

, Thunderbird refuses to create or recognize a Junk/Spam folder. This is not a cosmetic issue — it directly affects email safety, filtering, and daily usability.

Summary of the Issue

Thunderbird does not automatically create a Junk or Spam folder for this account.

Attempts to manually create a Junk or Spam folder fail or are ignored.

Thunderbird’s junk filtering settings for this account are disabled or inaccessible, making filtering impossible.

Other clients (Gmail web, Outlook, mobile apps) create and use a Spam folder normally, which shows the problem is specific to Thunderbird.

This problem has persisted across restarts, folder repairs, and full account removal/re-addition.

Why This Is Critical

Without a Junk/Spam folder, Thunderbird cannot move suspected spam anywhere, leaving the inbox vulnerable.

The built-in adaptive junk filter becomes unusable.

Thunderbird does not comply with Gmail’s standard IMAP folder structure.

This issue prevents Thunderbird from functioning as a secure, reliable mail client for this account.

Steps Already Attempted

Removed and re-added the account multiple times.

Forced folder synchronization.

Repaired folders.

Reset folder permissions in Gmail.

Verified IMAP settings (X-GM-EXT-1, special-use flags, etc.).

Tested other devices — only Thunderbird fails.

Expected Behavior

Thunderbird should automatically recognize Gmail’s [Gmail]/Spam folder as the Junk folder OR allow me to assign one manually.

Instead, Thunderbird behaves as if the account is not permitted to have a Junk folder at all, which is incorrect and breaks essential functionality.

I need help determining:

Why Thunderbird is refusing to create or map a Junk/Spam folder for my Google Workspace domain.

Whether there is a known bug with Gmail Workspace integration that causes Junk folder support to fail.

How to force Thunderbird to recognize or create a valid Junk folder.

Whether this issue requires special IMAP flags, folder mapping changes, or intervention from Thunderbird developers.

This is not a minor inconvenience — it prevents Thunderbird from acting as a secure or usable email client for this account. I would appreciate prompt assistance or escalation.

This is taking place on my desk top. My phone still has all my email accounts. Not sure if all my contacts are in my phone but way more than my desk top. Should mention new computer in Oct.24 with change from windows 10 to windows 11. Two thing, one, my other email accounts are no longer listed in thunderbird. Still have my main email with it's folders. I did the sinking thing with the phone still missing. Two, My contacts are mostly missing. Had Friends list, Business list, Family list and so on, all gone.

Recently I have noticed some changes in the way my Thunderbird downloads POP3 messages. Previously, it would be common to ask for new messages once a day and receive upwards of one hundred of them. But in the last month, this number has been limited to about 35 at a time. If I ask immediately again, I get about 35 more, and this pattern continues as long as there are messages in queue waiting to be downloaded. I am not sure if this is due to changes in gmail, where most of my received messages originate, or to changes in Thunderbird itself, or to some sort of third-party hack. Now that I have trained myself to keep on asking until there are no more messages coming down, this change does not cause me much difficulty, although initially it sometimes caused me to overlook messages because I failed to keep asking as long as I should have. Apart from that, it does not seem to be harmful as far as I can tell. I'd just like to know if other people have noticed anything similar, and if anyone knows what is causing it, and whether it has some hidden advantages over the way things used to work.

I have 4 emails in Thunderbird, one of those I also have on my phone, it is receiving mail, on my desktop, two of the emails have no email today, and two I have only one email, all should have 10 to 20 or more emails. I do have the emails on the website, but they are not loading onto Thunderbird. I get this message, "The certificate for imap.knology.net is not valid for the server. Someone could be trying to impersonate the server and you should not continue.

 Can you offer any help?
