Recently I started getting many popups and would like to stop them from appearing.
When reading pages that require me to click something in order to proceed I have been getting many annoying popups. How do I eliminate all these popups?

hello, please try to reset firefox and see if this can address the issue...
in addition go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and run a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.

Your pop-up problem may be caused by malware/spyware; I see you have the SaveNow extension which many regard as spyware. Read and follow the instructions in this article - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware
