My problem seems different than others in that, I'm not getting any graphics anomalies or unusually heavy memory usage.

Similarly, the issue I'm having started after installing AMD Catalyst 12.8. I installed a second time doing the AMD driver install ritual: Uninstall, boot into safemode, sweep driver remnants, reboot, reinstall, reboot LOL

I've tried enabling and disabling hardware acceleration modes.

Disabling add-ons also has no effect.

My load-time is now several minutes, instead of seconds. General FF use also seems slowed down at times. I haven't found any way to solve this. Your help is greatly appreciated!

It was Tree Style Tab.. thought I disabled everything. Found a more lightweight replacement for that add-on.

Is it just Firefox, that is operating slowly? I've never heard of a graphics driver causing a specific program to run slowly.

You might as well keep hardware acceleration disabled; I don't think it does anything especially useful for standard browsing. Note that you need to restart Firefox for the change to take effect.

Yes, it only seems to be affecting FF and I'm running with hardware acceleration off, but I'm still getting slow loading.

I don't get the connection. Does it make any difference if you use a blank home page?

For what it's worth, I saw this on another forum: "I made a custom profile in the drivers for firefox.exe with crossfire set to disabled. For almost an hour now Firefox is doing just fine with the 12.8 drivers and hardware acceleration enabled."

I hadn't tried making a profile.. however, I'm not using CrossFire

Upgrading to FF 15 didn't help.. probably have to downgrade to Catalyst 12.6. It seems to be an AMD problem. I wanted to report this issue on their support forums, but creating a new account didn't allow me posting privileges. What a great support system! O.o

Ok, so while the problem appeared directly after installing AMD Catalyst 12.8.. sweeping the new drivers and reinstalling 12.6 did not correct the issue.

I also tried disabling Adobe Flash, which just got updated, and my new AV program update. None of that helped.

Making a new sessionstore.js worked.. but that's not really a fix, as I have over 700 tabs saved. It all worked before the update and then it didn't. So I'm speculating the sessionstore.js got corrupted somehow. Yes, "Don't load tabs until selected" is still checked.

I decided to load a sessionstore.js backup I had from about a month ago.. thinking I'd use the history to rebuild the missing tabs. This didn't work, as I get the same slowdown. A change was made and I can't seem to roll it back.

It's weird, because normally the hard drive would become very active for a few seconds while the tabs are loaded up. Now, there is no activity for a min or two, then everything starts right up like usual.
