Exactly that. Firefox support never listens. Why does Firefox insists in installing files or addons I do not want ? (notorious on Bit Torrent sites), I do not want to instll unwanted Firefox or Flsh updates or any other file I do not want in my PG; yet, Firefox against my wishes, wants to install them. Wake up, ... you ... ..., .... Listen to your clients. It is my PC, not yours. Are you going to listn or not ?

To clarify for you, these messages aren't coming from Firefox. Instead, they are coming from the website(s) that you are visiting.

For example, you referenced torrent websites. These sites are notorious for being plagued with ads and popups that try to get you to download or buy things. That's how those websites make their money. Since many of these sites are shady (at best), it's common.

Certain popup blockers that can stop that type of content from opening, but the best course of action would be to avoid sites like that altogether. Sites that open popups are rarely on the up and up, so you could be exposed to a plethora of other security and privacy issues.

But again, to clarify, these messages are not coming from Firefox directly and the people that contribute to Firefox don't have any control over the content that a website chooses to serve to you.

Hope this provides some information for you.
