I am experiencing this issue ONLY in Firefox, not in Edge or Chrome. Thus, it tells me it's not my Windows security settings or my antivirus security settings. The issue is with the website ancestry.com and ONLY in one specific section: When I want to create a story and add it to an ancestor's profile page. It doesn't matter if I copy and paste something or if I just enter text manually. When I try to submit it I receive an Access denied error 21 message saying access is blocked by security settings. Furthermore, the stories I have already added to ancestor's profile pages are no longer visible on Firefox - there's just a blank white screen. However, again, they are readily visible in both Edge and Chrome, which again tells me this is not a Windows setting or an antivirus setting or even a firewall setting, but a Firefox setting.

For the life of me, I cannot figure this out. I've tried to google Access denied error 21 but I get absolutely no results. I've tinkered with my security settings in Firefox and nothing helps. I've cleared cache and cookies over and over again. I've even gone so far as to disable both my firewall and antivirus program temporarily and again, no difference.

I like to research in Firefox, but with all the new changes to layout and now this problem, I'm really getting fed up. Any help with this would be very much appreciated.

Why and how has Google Search been added to my browser opening page?

Has Google bought Mozilla? or have they donated enough for Mozilla to become a proxy Marketing and user acquisition arm of Google?

This happened on my Windows machine and have read the below too.

Brian Fagioli, reporting for BetaNews:

  • The developers of the Ubuntu-based operating system have agreed to accept an undisclosed amount of money from Mozilla in exchange for making significant changes to Linux Mint. This includes removal of modifications to Firefox and a big change for search. The devs share the upcoming changes to Firefox in Linux Mint 19 and higher.
  • The default start page no longer points to https://www.linuxmint.com/start/
  • The default search engines no longer include Linux Mint search partners (Yahoo, DuckDuckGo...) but Mozilla search partners (Google, Amazon, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Ebay...)
  • The default configuration switches from Mint defaults to Mozilla defaults.
  • Firefox no longer includes code changes or patches from Linux Mint, Debian or Ubuntu.

Can you let me know if the above is correct? Cheers.

I need ONLY MY address saved, not every one that comes through a form. Firefox saves everything it sees and tries to autopopulate everything I do with all of them. I know how to clean the address list, but I work in an address-heavy environment, and if I cleaned it every day autofill would still be useless.

Please, need a switch to STOP saving addresses willy-nilly, but still autofill with those few I have purposely saved.

Thanks, Bathsheba

I am using Firefox on a MacBook Air with OS 11.6.2 in order to use online banking in Portugal. I need and have generated a Digital Certificate at the bank, but when I try to import it so that the bank with recognize my device it gives me an error messages of " Unable to import this item" and Unknown format in input". I spoke to Apple support already and they suggested that I speak with you first to see if you would know why this problem is occurring. I have been using this computer in the past to access the accounts, but because my Digital Certificate has now expired I am required to generate a new one. I have attempted this 9 times in the last two days without success. I have also spoken with the bank in Portugal and they were not able to determine why I cannot import/save this certificate to my computer. Also the MacBook Air is from early 2014.

When I would go into Bing, I would go into settings and change from "Moderate" to "Strict"; I would also uncheck "Search Suggestions" so suggestions don't fill in as I type. Then I would click "Save". Until recently, these settings held with no problem. Now after I click "Save" and go back to the main screen in Bing (or come back to Bing after being somewhere else), I'm back to "Moderate" and suggestions fill in as I type. Microsoft claims this is Firefox's issue and needs to be fixed at Firefox's end. Others are posting on Microsoft's answers forums, some also using Firefox, but not all. I love Firefox and I'm not changing to something else, so can you tell me how this Bing issue might be fixed? Thank you.

I would like to name my credit cards ("Irl's AMEX", "B's auto Visa"). Safari allows this but Firefox doesn't seem to. Or at least I can't find it. Basically, when I view a saved credit card, instead of seeing, e.g., "****1234 2025-01" I'd like to see a text entry which I can edit. I'm even willing to do a bit of fancy footwork (add something to the .plist, say). OS X High Sierra, 10.13.6.

Autofill Addresses shows up under Forms & Autofill, but not credit cards! Sequence of events: 1) Credit card autofill worked fine. 2) Installed (Intego) VPN & software suite. Set the net barrier application rule to block ksfetch; allowed all other Firefox connections. Credit card auto fill info showed per usual but now would not populate. 3) Researching in FF forums, changed a few extensions.formautofill settings. That's when credit card section disappeared from Settings. Thought it was a good time to stop; did not take screen shot of settings before making changes, so thought it best to reach out. All help is appreciated!

I am using Firefox 96.0.1 on macOS Monterey 12.1

If you have "'Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed checked in Privacy & Security/Cookies and Site Data then this causes sites that use a service worker to fail registration with the error:

"Failed to register/update a ServiceWorker for scope https://every-layout.dev/: Storage access is restricted in this context due to user settings or private browsing mode."

This *only* occurs with Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Brave etc. all register the service worker OK. I know the workaround is to put in an Exception to Allow but this should not be necessary. In this case the service worker is use to provide access to paid for content and off-line reading.

I contacted the site's developers and they tell me that they have been waiting for ages for Mozilla to fix this issue and suggested I used an alternative browser.

Can anyone explain why Firefox behaves in this way and if this "feature" will be fixed on future releases?

Thanks

John

FireFox has been my default browser for many years and it has been great, no problems. Within the past three months, however, I've been unable to access financial sites that I regularly use. The first was in October when one site upgraded its account access security. Initially, FireFox worked after the upgrade, but then I could no longer log into my account. I spoke to support staff for that website and they said they've been receiving complaints from other clients who use FireFox and suggested I use another browser, which I did and was able to access my account. Today another financial site suddenly blocked access using FireFox with a message that I needed to unblock cookies for the site, so I went into FireFox security settings and added the site's address to the exceptions list, but still could not enter the site. I am having no problems logging onto these sites with another browser, but FireFox is not working. Any suggestions? I would like to keep FireFox as my default browser, if that's possible. Thanks!
