Firefox and Firefox Profile Manager do not open

Recently, my Firefox browser has stopped opening when I click on it. It does start a process running (Firefox.exe *32), but no browser or error message pops up. I have tried restarting my computer and reinstalling Firefox. I have tried opening the Profile Manager as suggested in another help topic, but the same thing happens -- no Profile Manager window shows up, only the process Firefox.exe *32 running in the background.
