= Why should I use it? =
Firefox Sync makes it easy to surf the Web on your PC, get up and go and have everything (open tabs, saved passwords, browsing history and bookmarks) waiting for you on your phone just the way you left it. Ever tried typing in passwords or long URLs on your phone? Now you don't have to – Firefox Sync will fill them in for you! And what's more, the sync is two-way. So if you bookmark a great new site on your work computer, Firefox Sync will make sure that bookmark shows up on your computer at home.

== Where's all my data? ==
Your data is safely stored on Mozilla's servers. Sync uses advanced security measures so your information can't be seen by others, even Mozilla. See [[Firefox Sync data is secure - Find out more]] for more.

Any of the following can be synchronized with the Mozilla server:

*Passwords
*Preferences/Options of Firefox (but not of add-ons)
*History of sites visited in the last 60 days
*Tabs and tab groups

Each user is limited to a maximum of 25MB of data. 99.9% of current Sync users use less than 25MB, so you are unlikely to reach the limit. If you are near the limit, Firefox will provide a warning indicating that you won't be able to synchronize any new data until you delete older entries. If you do need more space, you can ask for it on the [https://account.services.mozilla.com/ Mozilla Services Account web page].
You can choose how your data is synchronized when you create your Sync account and whenever you add a device. When you set up Firefox Sync, click the {button Sync Options} button at the bottom-left corner of the setup window to select one of these options:
*Merge this computer's data with my Sync data (default; recommended)
*Replace all data on this computer with my Sync data
*Replace all other devices with this computer's data

== Where can I find my synced tabs? ==
Using Firefox Sync you can easily move tabs from one device to another. First ensure that the option 'Tabs' is selected in your Sync Preferences:
{for linux}[[Image:Sync Preferences]] {/for}
{for win}[[Image:Manage Sync Account - Win Fx11]]{/for}
Tabs will then be synchronised automatically. The tabs will not open automatically - they can be accessed from the 'Tabs From Other Devices' page. This can be accessed from {for linux}the History Menu{/for}{for win}Firefox > History{/for}
{for linux}[[Image:Tabs from Other Devices]] {/for}
The Tabs From Other Devices Page will then open showing a list of your Synced Devices and the tabs that each of them has open.

== Can I use Firefox Sync to backup my data? ==
In short: 'No'. Firefox Sync is designed for moving your bookmarks from one computer to another. The data is continuously updated as you change bookmarks, so it does not provide a true backup service, nor is it intended to be used as one. For information on backing up your personal data see the following article: [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
