Note: Compact mode is supported and can be enabled in Firefox settings starting in Firefox version 157. A workaround is needed in previous versions but, for the recommended and supported experience, we encourage you to keep the normal density setting in Firefox version 156 and below.
The Compact mode density option was removed from the Customize panel in Firefox version 89 but you can still activate it in the Configuration Editor (about:config page) as follows:

- Type about:config in the address bar and press EnterReturn.
A warning page may appear. Click to go to the about:config page. - Find the browser.compactmode.show preference.
- Switch the toggle to true and then close the tab.

Starting with Firefox version 157, Compact mode can be enabled directly in Firefox Settings. This mode reduces the space used by Firefox toolbars and controls, giving you more room for webpages.
Enable Compact mode
- In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click and select (or , in some cases).Click the menu button
and select .
- Select on the left.
- In the Window density section, select Compact.
- Close the page. Any changes you've made will automatically be saved.
