Each time I open mail in outlook , a window opens up asking to open/save or cancel numerous Firefox files
This happens several times I open mail in out look. several windows pop up heading file down load.It asks whether I would like to open/save or cancel. When I try to open it goes to internet and start Loading...but nothing happend. example of one such file in C:\document&Setting\Hirak\Local Setting\temporary internet file: {FF77738-A07D-ESFDA23A9A5}.html Type Firefoxb document 6.35 Kb. This is driving me crazy

Many thanks for your help but I could not action it. My problem is Outlook e-mails. Every time I click an e-mail several popup windows come up as I had described before. Regarding option button when I type 'Use Firefox' nothing comes up but if I leave blank severalcontents come up but nothing related to 'Outlook'. I was worried about deleting all contents type. I deleted 'mimeTypes.rdf' according to your suggestion and restarted computer but problem remained. Futhermore I get a pop up as follows ' general failure. The URL was https:// support.mozilla.com/questions etc' can not be found' but it takes me to this page any way. Please help
Thank you for staying with me. I tried to follow your instruction & procceeded to edit file types . As I have Xp, I looked for 'URL:HyperText Trnsfer protocal' but could not fond it . I have 10 other files uder URL (including curiously MailTo twice!). As I was getting desperate I edited via regedit ( as suggested for Visa) throwing caution to the wind. Luckily the computer came back on but regretably the problem of numerous pop up windws associated with Microsoft Outlook remains.
Tried to follow your advice without success. Opened tools/option/application saw list of files. My problem is multiple tabs are opening when I click mail in outlook. No file re outlook listed under Application. When I typed 'Use Firefox' the window went blank. I tried all the suggestions so far but the problem remains. Rmoved and reinstalled Firefox 6.0 still no change. Getting desperate. Please someone help!
What is selected under Mailto in Tools > Options > Applications ?
Try to undo and redo Firefox as the default browser.
Make another browser like IE the default browser and then let Firefox do it again.

I am greatful. I think it worked. Under mailto in Tools/option/application had outlook as default. As you did not say what I should do with it so left it alone. Then the next step : I did undo and redo Firefox as a default Browser and made IE as the dfault and the following your advice I changed it again. I shall swith off and see again tomorrow. It is incredible how a member of the community like you take the trouble to support a novice like me. Thank you.
Believe it or not I managed to "fix" this issue with one mouse click.
I minimized the "People Pane" which in my instance of Outlook is on the bottom of the message area. It seems to be some kind of connection which allows you to connect your own Microsoft contact list with social networking sites for the same people.
Once I minimized this sub-screen, the issue disappeared.
Of course, I only figured this out by accident, and only after 90 minutes of reg edits and reboots.
Thanks for sharing, the solution seems elegant and easy. Will try if I face prolem, again.
