Firefox TOTALLY Unresponsive

more options

Hi,

For the last few weeks Firefox has been TOTALLY unresponsive - the browser page loads however the Home Button does not appear (this was previously set to "on"), when I press the Settings hamburger and try to select an option, none of the option open, and even more annoyingly when I manually type a webpage in, it does not load.

I've tried uninstalling Firefox, manually deleting the folders from C:/Program Files and %appdata% and reinstalling but this does not resolve the issue.

Incidentally, when I try to reinstall Firefox an error comes up saying vcruntime140.dll is not present but when I bypass this dialogue box and let the install finish, it is then present in the C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox folder.

Thanks for any help.

You can check for issues caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation that is missing runtime components (Redistributable Packages) required by Firefox, especially VCRUNTIME140_1.dll.

See "Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022":

You may also have to install the Visual Studio 2013 Redistributable Package. You need to reboot the computer.

When you did all this did you restart the computer? Sometimes a restart before uninstall will stop current program from using the dll so you can properly uninstall and now that current dll could become corrupted causing unforseen issues now.

Hi, thanks for the reply - yes I did and have but this hasn't resolved it

I don't have Windows so I can only provide links. You may need further or later Visual files. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1379900#answer-1512386 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads

Thanks Terry - this hasn't done the trick either
