My text shows up as multi-colored in Firefox only. It does not happen in explorer. I have a pic I can upload to show what I see. I tried turning off clear type text and it made no difference. I tried disabling all add ons and plug ins and still had the issue. If I pass my mouse over the text( holding down left mouse) it will go back to normal.

Seems odd. All I can suggest is trying with Hardware Acceleration turned off and upgrading the graphics drivers (Or conversely roll back to an earlier version in case the current one is the problem)

more options

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Thanks for responding. I tried the hardware acceleration and WebGL and it did not help. When I ran it in safe mode there was no problem but that is not to surprising because I suspect it to be some kind of driver conflict with FireFox. I did notice that as I start to scroll the problem becomes evident. The issue appears mostly at the top3rd of the web page.

Maybe it is the new Javascript Compiler causing the problem.

If Firefox works in Firefox's Safe Mode then lets try to find out what part of that helps

  • can you confirm you have tried with
    • Hardware Accelleration turned off and turned on, and that it makes no improvement turning it off
    • Default Theme only
    • JIT compiler disabled (by toggling javascript.options.methodjit.* preferences to false)

Do any of the above individual changes help?

If Firefox works in Windows Safe Mode then investigate what changes made by that help. I guess that involves utilising msconfig ;+.

I note you mentioned you had a pic. You may attach screenshots to your reply use the [Add images] option.

I tried the Java script and It made no change. So far nothing I have tried has made a difference except being in safe mode. It is odd that the problem is only in Firefox. I wish I could roll back to see if the problem is the new update. Thanks

Is it the Firefox safe mode or the Windows safemode that is working for you ?

Note add-ons and font problems relating to zoom settings are also known to cause similar problems /questions/952310 .

It is possible and fairly easy to roll back, but I would do that only as a temporary test. Do not use the old version whilst connected to the internet, instead save a web-page locally to test for the pixelation problem offline.

  • see Install an older version of Firefox
  • Do NOT use any option to remove personal data, because that destroys bookmarks and passwords. You do not even need to uninstall the curent version.

Personally I would do that by installing an additional version

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Try to set the gfx.content.azure.enabled pref to false or if this didn't help disable Direct2D by setting the gfx.direct2d.disabled pref to true on the about:config page and leave hardware acceleration otherwise enabled.

After much frustration I decided to reset. Thought the problem was solved but it returned. I am thinking the zoom is playing a role in the issue. It appears a goes away as I zoom in and out.

It is like any pages that have picture content bleed into text. Just text and I do not see the colors. Zoom in and out and it goes away temporarily.

So disabling hardware acceleration doesn't have any effect?

I tried that in the past and it did not help, but now I tried it again and it appears to be working. I have a high end video card , I would think It could handle it. What is going on with it?
