I'm a long-time Thunderbird user and have never had any issues. Recently (maybe within the last week), the application updated itself and since then I have had a couple of odd issues. I can send/receive and create new emails, but sometimes context menus are hit-and-miss. For example, if I right-click on the Bulk Mail folder, I should see a menu that allows me to delete all. Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, right-click doesn't work anywhere and the Thunderbird Menu in the top right stops working, as well. Shutting down the app and relaunching it usually resolves the issue, but obviously isn't ideal. I'm using 60.3.2 (32-bit) on a Win10 Asus laptop. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Do you see a 'Not responding' message in the title bar?

It's not that it's not responding - I can still write and reply to emails, as well as check for new messages. Only some of the functionality is not available when it glitches.

Try to start Thunderbird in safe mode. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird

Is there any difference?

Christ1,

Thanks for the suggestion. The problem is that restarting TB after experiencing this glitch always results in the problem disappearing - at least for a while. So, restarting TB in safe mode will see the problem disappear, as well. What I'm going to try is to let it run in SM for a while and see if the problem ever appears. If it does, then we'll know there is something else to consider. If it doesn't, I might have to resort to reinstalling, which I hate to do because of the amount of data and configurations I have (not to mention the fact that I have no idea what the passwords for the accounts are).

No, it would be something in your profile, possibly an extension. If you want to re-install just go ahead, but you'd be wasting your time.

Profile files are stored separately from the Thunderbird program files. The program files are static and do not change (except when you upgrade the Thunderbird application version). Because we store profile and program files separately, you can uninstall Thunderbird without losing your messages and settings, and if something goes wrong with a Thunderbird update your information will still be available. It also means that you don't have to reinstall Thunderbird in order to delete your information or troubleshoot a problem. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data

So safe mode cleared it up?

I just reinstalled TB; we'll see if that resolves it. Thanks for the follow-up.
