Shift key does not work properly in the message field on twitter web-page: for example, pressing shift+A puts A in the beginning of the message, then restores the cursor position (or sometimes it does not). The same happens for any capital letter if used with shift (left or right). If I use CAPS-LOCK, it works.

The same problem on overleaf web-page, in the editing source code field. The same for gmail, in the email edit.

The problem does _not_ happen in this forum edit field.

The problem does persist when I restart firefox with add-ons disabled ("safe-mode").

The problem seems to start only with the quantum version of firefox.

Ideas?

First, make sure your command keys are not stuck. Hit each of them a few times.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Try the Firefox version from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution.

hi FredMcD and cor-el,

Thanks for your answers, unfortunately the problem is still there.

FredMcD, I did try the safe-mode originally, the problem persists.

cor-el, I did not try to download the version from the web-site, because it has the same version number as mine and mine version comes from Ubuntu repo, so I guess it is not hacked.
