Why is it that when scrolling through my mail folders ande leave it reverts to the top of the list

more options

If I go through my email and want to save some messages to folders that I have set up, after sending a message to "g" folder and then the next message I want to put into an "m" folder I have to scroll all the way from the top of the list. Previously the cursor would remain at the "g" listing for a period of time and I would not have to waste time scrolling from the "a". Yahoo says it is my browsers fault and it should be fixed by my browsers system. Please Advise Soonest.

Do it again with another message. Then STOP and wait. Does it change?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Is this a question about Thunderbird or about a web based email service?

If the question is about Thunderbird then we can move the question over to Thunderbird support.

To Cor-el - This is about Firefox utilizing ATT/Yahoo mail. ATT/Yahoo says that you (Mozilla) can solve this problem. A colleague of yours Fred McD wants me to try something else and when I get finished here I will try that to see if his solution is viable.

Fred McD - Thanks for the information, unfortunately it did NOT solve the problem. I think that it is an inherent problem that when Yahoo does something to "enhance" their product, they actually make it worse. If it is working just fine, keep the fingers out of the mix because you only make it worse.

Is the disk cache enabled and working?

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; never remember history).

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

To Fred McD - I say the same thing myself.

Tor cor-el - I have never used "private browsing". The "Cache" and the "Cookies" are cleared on a periodic basis. I do NOT have the foggiest idea which of the "cookies" that may be causing my problem. This situation has been going on for a long period of time,it used to be just a minor irritation; now it is getting to be a big a***d pain in the patoot.

Type about:preferences<enter> in the address bar.

  • Cookies; Select Privacy. Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings. Press the button on the right side called Show Cookies. Use the search bar to look for the site. Note; There may be more than one entry. Remove All of them.
  • Cache; Select Advanced > Network. Across from Cached Web Content, Press Clear Now.

Fred McD - Thanks for the input, however, none of the boldfaced items show up on my MacBook, operating system 10.11.1, utilizing Mozilla Firefox 42.0. I may not have said that I am using a Mac rather than a PC.

To Fred McD - I am making a gross assumption here that, maybe, my concern is not of great importance to warrant either, another suggestion as to what I should try next, or a courtesy reply of "I am sorry but I do not know what to tell you to do next".

There are two of us trying to help. I've called the big guys to help you. Good luck.

Fred McD - Thanks. I thought that I had fallen off the "White Cliffs of Dover" or had gone over Victoria Falls. Just as an addendum, I have found that this problem is only with Firefox. When I use my only viable alternate, Safari, this does NOT happen. (I have software that will not work satisfactorily with anything other than Firefox and Safari).

I am making a gross assumption that we have hit an impasse. Thank you for what you have tried to do. I will just grit my teeth, hold my tongue and keep scrolling all the way from the top of the list.
