unauthorized download and update deleted my bookmarks and add-ons
On Sunday, March 9, 2014, I opened Firefox and it opened with a new version. Much to my dismay, all of my bookmarks were gone along with my add-ons. I didn't download and update anything from Mozilla Firefox the night before, and I have my settings set to where updates don't download and install on their own from Firefox. Also, a shortcut appeared on my desktop labeled OLD FIREFOX DATA. After looking through the Firefox support forum for solutions, I tried restoring my bookmarks using that "old Firefox data" file location, but the bookmarks folder said that it was empty. I can't seem to find any other solution in the user's support forum. Have you heard of this happening to anyone else, and do you have any solutions for me? Thank you!

Hi injured_cowboy,
I have not heard of anything. However updates can be set to automatic or always ask in your add on preferences. Configuration Options for Updates will show you how to control those updates in the future.
When you say folder, if the bookmark backups folder is empty then there is not much we can do. However if you have the profile folder, try to restore the whole folder with these instructions Restoring a Profile Backup
http://www.xmarks.com/ is pretty nice too.
