Just upgrader to Firefox 10 and using Ctrl F or Menu, Find will not bring up the Find bar. Was previously using "Find Toolbar Tweaks" add on but this does not work either. Thanks, Trevor

According to some of the feedback here it looks like there are some minor issues. So perhaps the developers will fix it in a future version of the add-on.

If Search for text when I start typing in Firefox Tools (Alt + T) > Options > Advanced > General is enabled (ticked), you can start a quick search simply by starting to type, without pressing Ctrl + F. Pressing Ctrl + G and Ctrl + Shift + Gsearches for the next/previous occurrence of the typed word. Even if this option is not enabled, you may be able to start this search by pressing / (forward slash) first.

Hi,

You can try to update the add-on via Tools (Alt + T) > Add-ons > Extensions (on the left) and Enable it. Right-click on the add-on and Find Updates. Alternatively to update this and the other add-ons in one go, click on the gear on the top right and Check for Update. If the problem persists, please try to Remove it and restart Firefox. You can later install the add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/find-toolbar-tweaks/?src=search

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. I had already tried uninstalling and re-installing the Add on to no avail. have just tried again and no luck. Even trying Ctrl F does not bring anything up on the screen to find on a page. Very strange, Thanks, Trevor

You can also check if this happens in Safe Mode by choosing Continue In Safe Mode in the first screen without choosing any other options. Safe mode has also potentially two useful functions, Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults which would reset all changes and preferences including that made by add-ons, and Reset toolbars and controls which would reset all manual customizations to the toolbars.

Hi, thanks for replying so quickly. Running in safe mode, Firefox, Help, Restart with Add Ins Disabled has brought the Find Bar back as per attached screenshot. Do you think it is one of the other Add Ins that is stopping Find from working - never had a problem with earlier than Firefox 10 though. Its not the Find Toolbar Tweaks as that was disabled in the non Safe mode example. Thanks, Trevor

I think we may have solved it. I disabled all Add Ins and then restarted Firefox. I slowly added the Add Ins back, one at a time and closing and restarting Firefox every time. I now have all of my Add Ins back except Find Toolbar Tweaks and I now have the Find Bar at the bottom of the screen. Why this never worked by just disabling Find Toolbar Tweaks in my first attempts I will never know. Anyway, looks like we are back to normal, thanks for your help and patience. Trevor

This can also be caused by a problem with the localstore.rdf file that may have been corrected by starting in safe mode.

Hi, Thanks for taking the time to reply. Apologies for late reply, only just surfaced in UK. Clearly I am not very savvy with Firefox but I suspect you may well be right. Have now tried enabling Find Toolbar Tweaks Add On and Find Bar cannot be initialised. Removing it allows Find Bar to be seen. I just need to find a way of making the Find Bar appear automatically on start up. Many thanks, Trevor
