Are you using Sync?
And if so, do you have a mobile device using the same Sync account?
yes but it adds these empty files even when the mobile device is not used. It has been happening for only a week .
I added sync and mobile tags to this thread so that the sync and mobile specialists will see this thread in their lists of threads needing their expertise.
Hi Flyer!
The behavior doesn't seem normal. What version of Firefox are you using in the phone, and what phone do you use?
I will recommend you to reset your phone information after deleting the folders in the computer following these steps:
- Access to the Sync Tab in the Preferences window.
- Under the "Manager Account" drop down, select "Reset Sync"
- Select the last options "Replace all the other devices with the data from this device".
You will be prompted with a menu with all the devices that are connected to your Sync. Make sure that you don't have multiple phones or any other weird set up. Finish the process and hopefully your phone will stop creating folders.
Let me know if it works.
Could not find a "manage account" drop down so I deleted the firefox app from my iphone and no change. I still get these empty folders. Today I gained more than 20.
Hi Flyer,
Please make sure that you follow these steps:
From what you are describing it seems that either you have another device that is not the iPhone synchronized or the problem is not caused by Firefox Sync.
To be clear, the iPhone app, also known as Firefox Home doesn't send any information to your computer, is just a client to visualize what do you have in the computer, so it doesn't generate any type of folder in your computer.
I will ask you to follow the steps described in the process above an tell us which devices the system tells you is going to overwrite.
Can't get into the sync manager to find "manage account". I do have an account and I can log in through https://account.services.mozilla.com. Should I just clear the sync data?
Now I'm even more confused. Sync is not configured in your computer so the folders you are mentioning are generated by other means. Do you have an add-on like X-marks installed?
In a related note, you mention that you have a Firefox Sync account, but from your picture it's not configured. Do you want to sync your data? If so follow the steps described in the following article:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ive-lost-my-firefox-sync-account-inf...
And then follow the steps explained here. Use Sync to share your Firefox bookmarks, passwords and more with Firefox for mobile
I do have x-marks. I think it might be the problem. I found the same issue on Explorer and have disabled x-marks. The problem seems to have stopped. Now I have to figure out how to uninstall x-marks.
