How do I get the desktop icon to reflect the new update to 4?

You posted with Firefox 4.0.1.

If the name is wrong then rename the shortcut via the right-click context menu.
You can also check the Properties of that shortcut.
If you can't fix it then delete that shortcut and create a new shortcut by going to the Firefox.exe file in "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\" with Windows Explorer and use Send To > Desktop (create shortcut).
