I have a working FF installation with a group of tabs. I have a Pale Moon installation with its own group of tabs, I would like to stop using PM and install a 2nd FF installation to a unique program folder so it has its own unique profile, so I can import the bookmarks, tabs etc, from PM, which will let me have 2 FF browsers open at the same time, loaded with two different sets of tabs.

I read that if I install a 2nd FF to a unique *program folder by **entering that during the install, setting this up would be straightforward. So I downloaded a FF installer, ran it, and it installed FF without asking me where I wanted to install it!

Can I force the FF installer to give me the option of selecting a custom program folder?

Thank you, Mike

Apologies, I just found this page, for anyone else running into the same problem:

Where to download Firefox for a custom installation

You can download the Firefox Setup file in your language, from this Firefox download page. https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=support.mozilla.org

Note: You can install the 32-bit version of Firefox on 64-bit Windows but 64-bit Firefox is recommended (see this blog post for details). On 32-bit systems, only the 32-bit version of Firefox can be installed.

I ran the installer and it gave me the option of choosing a custom folder... looks like the problem is solved.

Note that you can run the same Firefox version with a multiple profiles if you create a desktop shortcut that specifies this profile as named in the Profile Manager (firefox.exe -P "profile_name"), so you do not need to install the same Firefox version a second time and lock it to a specific installation.

Thanks cor-el, I managed to install the same version in two locations C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 2 So each has its own profile, Your fix would also have worked great. Cheers, Mike
