Hi!

I went to this link to create a new profile, all was going so well until I lost the other three email accounts, what happened and where have they gone?

That's an old support article (obviously).

Creating profiles is described at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles

Hi Wayne, thanks for pointing that out. What I was trying to do before this mishap, I don't know if this is possible, was to create a separate icon for opening my personal email than my business email. Is that possible?

It looks like I will have to set up the accounts that were removed before starting up a Mailfence email account, the other three disappeared. Thankfully the messages are stored on a server

Thanks for your help

I think you best slow down.... I am not sure what you got from that article Wayne linked you to. But mail fence has nothing to do with anything here at all, and starting some recovery process is not going to be helpful at all, you just don't appear to have got to the icon setup of the ability to switch between the profiles because you reading an article that is 20 years old.

Your existing accounts are in a profile, when you create a new profile that is the one you are placed it. Obviously the new profile does not have your old accounts in it. But from reading your post I would have thought that was what you were trying to do. Have two profiles one with business accounts and another with non business accounts and switch between them.

So you have to add nothing to your new profile, except the business account you want to use with that profile. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Now having added the business account to your new profile go to the troubleshooting information on the help menu. Click on the about:profiles entry.

Open the existing profiles shown there in turn until you have established the actual profile name of the two profiles. Write the profile names down on paper and close Thunderbird.

Now press the windows key + R In the run box that opens type Thunderbird -p and space followed by the profile name you wrote down. Does the expected profile open in Thunderbird? If you make a mess of the profile name, the profile manager will open

Note if you remove the tick in the "don't ask at startup", the profile manager will open each time you click on the Thunderbird icon to ask which profile to start with. It is possible to edit the shortcut used to specify the profile, but I think lets just get you w0orking with two profiles before getting ambitious.
