When using "about:config" I may have changed the "handoff" parm by accident.
Wanted to stop using the URL box for my SEARCHES and stick with the old SEARCH box because if my 'search' did not find what I was looking for, I could just change a word or two instead of typing the whole darn thing all over again. Your Forum advised to use the 'about:config' and the "Handoff" option. I may have changed "HANDOFF" default my mistake as could not find a list of default values. So, 1. What is the default value for HANDOFF? 2. Is there a LIST of the defaults, TRUE or FALSE in case I need to 'monkey' with 'about:config' in the future. I am not at all happy with some of the changes in rel 89.0 and 'messing' with the URL box, the SEARCH box, etc. 3. I tried to "go back" to previous a release and avoid/skip rel 89.0 but was forced to because of PROFILES, there locations, multiple ones and not knowing the 'most recent' to choose so was forced to use rel 89.0.

Probably you were following steps like this:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste handoff and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar preference to switch the value from true (move the cursor to the address bar) to false (keep the cursor in the search box)
Non-Default Preference Values
If a preference has been customized, it should appear in bold and there will be a reset button -- leftward arching arrow -- at the right end of the row. Click that button to return to the default value.
If you see a trash can in that position, it means the preference was created either by you or by Firefox and it is not normally listed in about:config. To remove the customization, click the trash can.
Change Relating to Proton Design
Was there anything in particular you meant about the URL box? I don't think there is a preference to bring back the Page Actions menu (•••). I don't know if there are other changes you had in mind.
Note that the about:config has a 'Show only modified preferences' checkbox that you can possibly use. Firefox creates a lot of preferences for internal use that aren't there by default and thus only have a trashcan icon, so be cautious with removing/resetting preferences by clicking the trashcan icon.
