Cannot use Firefox.
My system: macOS High Sierra version 10.13.6
A few days ago there was an download message from Firefox to upgrade the browser. It does not work on my mac and I have deleted Firefox. [Safari sucks rotten eggs through a bent straw] Been using Firefox since the 80's or 90's. Felt really comfortable. Used it to teach myself HTML.
I don't know what version I had, but it worked. I cannot afford the data loss and cost which I cannot afford to upgrade my OS.
Is there any way I can download an older copy of Firefox that matches/works on my system? I miss my old friend.

Are you sure it came from Firefox? Many fake update messages have shown up over the years.
You may have ad/mal-ware.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
Let’s do a full clean re-install;
Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;
Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.
If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.

Save the file. Then Close Firefox.
Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.
Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Note: Check Both Folders

Do not remove the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.
Do Not remove any profile folders.

current Firefox releases should work on Mac OS X 10.13.
Firefox 79 and newer releases require Mac OS X 10.12 or newer. Users on Mac OS X 10.9 and 10.10 and 10.11 have been moved to the Firefox 78.x ESR version.

Downloaded Firefox 81.0 dmg. No "Best Version of Firefox" was recommended. This did not work.
No best choice, my Mac is Version 10.13.6
