I'm having errors trying to send emails from various separate accounts. Initial setup works fine, but if I go back to a previous account the Account Settings:Edit SMTP server...:Security and Authentication:User Name has changed to whatever I used last on another account.

Initial setup for account 1 might show: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA@hotmail.com, and then a new account(2) for an account BBBBBBBBBBBBB@hotmail.com is set up. Each stage emails sends find, until I go back to account 1, and it shows in that location the information for account 2 in the Security and Authentication:User Name information.

I've not found anything in documentation that might indicate what I am doing wrong. Since it works fine on the initial try but gets screwed up for the old accounts as I make the next one work...

Suggestions?

I am running the latest and greatest versions of Thunderbird as per updates section. [currently 68.2.1(32-bit) ] and did not work on the version prior to this, in a Windows 10 OS

Thanks for your time!

In Tools/Account Settings, select an account in the left pane, then look at Outgoing Server (SMTP) in the lower right pane. Each account should send through an smtp server that is defined with the same User Name and password as the incoming account. If you need to add or edit smtp servers, select Outgoing Server (SMTP) at the bottom of the left pane in Account Settings. Name each smtp server to make it easy to match with the corresponding incoming server.

Oh! Well, that sure did it. Confusion on my part in that it's not editing for the specific account smtp server, but editing for a specific smtp server.

Thank you greatly for setting me straight. Working as it should now.

Best of wishes to you, and thanks again. Will

Was a struggle to get the names changed in each account, but was successful in the end. THANX!

Everywhere I can find a user name either at the top of the left Account Settings panel or editing the Outgoing Server SMTP the user name is the same. What happens is, and it is not clear why, suddenly I cannot send an email. I then go look at the Outgoing Server SMTP user name and it has changed to another user name. It seems to be the same one. And, sometimes that user name will have change to another user name. I am not doing anything unusual that I know of. It is almost like a virus is doing it. Of course there has been this crazy yahoo/att dance that has been going on. It is never clear how to login to the server if one wants to look at spam. But, this seems to be a totally unrelated problem.
