I've noticed that on MacOS 10.14.2 and Firefox 65 (but also 64, 63...) when I have Hardware acceleration turned on the CPU jumps to 100%. If I turn it off I experience glitches for example on Netflix or Youtube.

What is going on? Why am I experiencing this issue?

There are known problems with battery life on Mac. I know the teams are working on it constantly. Have you tried capturing a profile when you notice spikes? Is this bug related to your problem? https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1483387

Thank you for the input, but mine is not really a memory problem. The cpu just works constantly at about 100%. I thought it was because of hardware acceleration, but even with hw turned off, the problem persists.
