Guys thanks a lot for your help! My problem has been solved! The problem was created due to a change of my system variable PATH that affected .exe .pdf and add ons. For some reason I do not know, mozilla started the downloading processes and stopped immediately because it could not find a way to open the files due to the PATH change. After changing the system variable to its original value the problem was solved! Thank you very much for the support! Have a nice day!

This download manager works separately from the browser. The browser tells it what to download, and off it goes.

http://www.freedownloadmanager.org It is a powerful modern download accelerator and organizer for Windows and Mac.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

I would disable Avast I think that program is worthless and the cause of the problem download. Do that and try again otherwise what is the link so others can see what it is as long as it isn't private information.

I completely uninstalled Avast but the problem remains. What type of link do you need? I did not understand!

Firefox should be okay with files of 1MB, and on a fast connection I've downloaded 350MB files. What happens when you try to download those files: do you get a specific error message?

Note: Unless it has changed, the Mega site works in a special way where instead of downloading a file directly to disk, it downloads data into a database files and then generates the file from the downloaded data. That introduces a lot of additional points of potential failure.
