https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/flashblock/ Flash block Never be annoyed by a Flash animation again! Blocks Flash so it won't get in your way, but if you want to see it, just click on it

or

You can set this pref; media.block-autoplay-until-in-foreground = true

Type about:config<enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the Be Careful button. At the top of the screen is a search bar.

Thank you.....

I had already changed media.block-autoplay-until-in-foreground = true and it stopped the vid playing but it still opened and flashed across the screen.

I have now installed flashblock and hope that does the trick.

Thank you very much

I'm finding that the video still flashes across the screen but there is no content within the video.... It doesn't play and now there is no content but the vid still flashes across and of course blocks out some of the page....

Any other suggestions?

Is this with all websites, some, a few?

Right-click the player area. What type is it? HTML5, flash . . . . . .

I have deleted the solved flag.....

It's only on www.dailymail.co.uk

I've right clicked and there is no sort of identity.... I did click on save the video and it said it was MP4..... I tried to inspect the vid and that was chinese to me but did mention xhtml... Nothing else that I could see that identified it.... I tried the flash block you mentioned and it stopped me being able to use the dailymail website completely, just a blank page. I did follow the instructions on the flash blocker about flash.... ask before use and the block autoplayer you mention in your first answer.

when you read a page of news and scroll down the page a video flashes from left to bottom right corner of the screen.... my adblocker ultimate suggests it's VJS_video_3_HTML5_API..... I've blocked the video but it still leaves a black square where the vid was, just no content

Ohh, that. There is a Close X upper right.
