for over 10 years my automatic bcc has appeared in all new messages. No longer works. I've deleted the email address in Tools:AccountSettings:Copies&Folders and re-booted and added the address back and it still does not work.

I've thought about it for awhile, and the only thing I can come up with is that perhaps your Thunderbird Profile is corrupted somehow.

Create a new profile in Thunderbird for testing and see if it does the same thing. If the new profile works better, then import your stuff from the old profile to the new profile.
