mobile bookmarks not showing on new laptop?

I have firefox on android and on an old laptop. The mobile bookmarks folder sync fine there. When i got a new laptop and installed firefox and enabled Sync, the mobile bookmarks folder remains empty, even when i import a backup of the bookmarks from the old laptop to the new one.
