I can't use firefox on my android because even with popups turned off, and running adblock, new windows keep opening so quickly I can't do anything.

One of the common messages says I need to "upgrade" firefox, but the link is NOT to the play store. Another common message says I have a virus, but I have run Malwarebytes repeatedly, and it never finds anything. The virus message asks me to install an "antivirus" program that is not in the play store. (Even if it downloaded one of those programs, my device is set to refuse to install anything that I did not get from the play store. The problem is intermittent. Sometimes I only have to close five tabs that open all at once, and then I can start watching a show, and if I put the window in full screen mode, that usually fixes everything unless I touch the screen to back up and replay something. Then it starts all over again with the popup ads, but in full screen mode, I have no way to close the tabs or return to the tab I'm watching, so I have to shut down the browser from the open apps selector.

Sounds a lot like a virus or a spamware of some kind.

I would first try uninstalling firefox, perhaps using Clean Master since it'll let you delete residual files as well. Then I'd scan my phone with Kaspersky and CM Security and remove any issues they encounter. Then I'd install Firefox again and see what happens. Oh, and start off by installing No-Script and uBlock (Orgin) or Adblock of some kind.

Just watch out for the ads appearing below the results of your scans in Clan Master and CM Security - they'll suggest you install bunch of stuff you don't need (I think I even encountered and ad saying virus found, right below the virus scan results than said there's none xD).
