I want to be able to have a file menu so I can select print etc. directly from my main display. One of the help programs said I have an menu upper left which is not displayed. I accidentally selected an ASK program which completely reset my Mozilla features and I cannot get them back. I have deleted ASK but it has permanently reset my Mozilla appearance. I deleted Mozilla and reinstalled it to no avail. I restored my whole computer to an earlier time.

Can you see the tab bar and main toolbar? If not:

  • Firefox might be in its full screen view. The F11 key switches between normal and full screen views.
  • Some pop-up windows will not show the tab bar and the full main toolbar (just the address section). Such windows also will not usually have the menu bar. You can start a new window using Ctrl+n.

Assuming you do not have those problems...

You can use one of these methods to show the toolbar list and select Menu Bar and/or Bookmarks Toolbar there:

Success?

Are there other aspects of appearance that you're having trouble recovering?

Current Firefox releases have the three-bar Firefox Menu button at the right end of the Navigation Toolbar. You can make the Menu Bar visible via the right-click context menu of a toolbar or via "Customize -> Show/Hide Toolbars" to have the menu bar with the File and Edit and Bookmarks and History and Tools menus.

If ever you lose your browser settings, Bill, you can re-set them by going into the Firefox settings menu, which is the three bars at the right hand end of your address bar.

Click on those three bars. At the very bottom of that box, below the icons, you will see the word "customize". Click on that. That will show you further options outside the box and at the very bottom of your screen in the centre is a little menu of "Title Bar", "Show/Hide Toolbars" and "Themes". If you click on the "Show/Hide Toolbars" you will see there is a toggle on/off choice to hide or show your menu bar - tick or untick the box beside it.

To get back to your normal screen and close the customisation, click on the "exit custom" in the green band at the bottom of the box to the right.
