My company recently updated our "policy", and now in Firefox my start page cannot be changed from the company selected site (I want to use the option to start with previous tabs), and my privacy settings are set to Never Remember History. If I change that and restart, it goes back to Never Remember, which means I have to log in again to websites I've visited - facebook, email, etc. I'm used to Firefox remembering all of this info for me and I want that option back. I have also noted that we've switched virus scan program from Symantec to McAfee. Any suggestions?

hello texasbluedevil69, in principle it is possible for an administrator of your system to preconfigure the option to never store history data in the browser. you'll probably have to contact your it department if this is the case and if this is happening intentionally... it might be possible to circumvent those restrictions by using a portable version of the browser - but again you might breach some sort of policy set by your employer.

Thanks for the info, was hoping there was something in the registry I could alter or delete to eliminate this. I work from home so I have no worry about getting in any trouble. I've done this before with setting they set up in IE and WinXP, but can't find anything for this one.

there may be different ways to set up such a lock on certain preferences, you could look out for a .cfg file in your firefox program folder however. the procedure to implement such a lock is described in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences

again, a portable version from http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable might also be a good alternative...
