When I opened a Mozilla account on this PC - I already use it rather than IExplorer on another computer) You gave a message: "Please be sure to add our sending address: mozilla@e.mozilla.org to your address book to ensure we always reach your inbox."

Have used computers nearly 40 years, but was never aware that they (or I) had one particular address book. As opposed to the various address books I keep in Word and other programs, or on my iPhone, etc.

So please, what address book are you referring to, and where to find it on my computer?

If a special Mozilla one, how does one access it?

========

2nd question, please: how to stop Firefox opening each time with Yahoo search opening screen? I don't want it and it doesn't happen with Firefox on my other computers.

========

Thank you

Michael Walter edit: removed your mail address from public display, since the only thing it will attract are spam bots. you will be notified per mail once somebody replies to the thread. (philipp)

Hello Michael,

1: I think if you signed up to get Firefox news on the Mozilla web page, that message should appear on that particular website. It only refers to the address book of the email address that you used to receive the news - sometimes if you do not add certain emails to your address book, they are automatically sent to spam.

2: Can you check your home page settings in:

  • Tools (or New Fx Menu) > Options > General

In the search bar (the bar to the right of the address bar), if the yahoo logo is there may also cause your home page to have the Yahoo logo as it is set to be your search engine. You can easily change it by clicking on the downward triangle on the search bar and selecting a different search provider, such as Google.

If you have a Yahoo toolbar installed, that may also cause your home page changes, you will need to uninstall it. First, if you do not want any Yahoo applications on your computer, uninstall it from Windows in your Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (I notice in your plugins that you have "Yahoo! activeX Plug-in Bridge"). Then in Firefox, go to:

  • Tools (or New Fx Menu) > Add-ons > Extensions

And remove any Yahoo toolbars you see there. You may need to install the Search Reset Tool as well which will reset all of your search preferences to default, and then uninstall itself. Please see the article Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page for more information.

If you find that your preferences aren't being saved, you may have some external application such as an antivirus preventing your preferences from changing. You will need to disable those features before applying the changes in Firefox, and then may enable those features again once the settings are changed. Please see the article How to fix preferences that won't save.

If you are finding that none of the above works, you can also right click on your Firefox icon and select Properties. Check the target line under the Shortcut tab to make sure that there are no links after the "firefox.exe".

I also noticed that you are using an outdated version of Flash. It is a good idea to update as keeping an old version can leave your computer vulnerable to security flaws in that version. You can update a new version here:
