That is a crash report from Firefox 30.

  • Firefox 30.0 Crash Report [@ gfxContext::PushGroupAndCopyBackground(gfxContentType) ]

Do you still have the same issue with the Firefox 31 version that you currently use?

Do you have a crash report from the Firefox 31 version?

That crash could be a problem with hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Interesting? Is this a new issue, or related to the crashes: Why do my crash reports say 30 when I'm using 31?

When I ask to download/update Firefox from the website, it tells me I already have the most current version. From the Firefox menu/help/About Firefox, it says 31.0. Here's the crash report from 30 minutes ago: bp-8e6fb8cb-fbf9-49e7-aa8d-9fff02140804. It says Firefox 31.

Here's my history/list of crashes. Today's report says 31; the rest are (probably) 30. Today, I did have 8 or 9 tabs open, which is unusual. It has been crashing after idle for a long time.bp-8e6fb8cb-fbf9-49e7-aa8d-9fff02140804 8/3/2014 9:01 PM bp-cc5fadc0-5190-48d1-8659-977fa2140731 7/30/2014 9:25 PM bp-8668f957-20fd-431a-938c-281e52140726 7/26/2014 2:39 PM bp-7d83f570-0beb-41ac-ae90-158ad2140726 7/26/2014 10:49 AM bp-1259dc15-9f94-4e60-9fca-fc4532140726 7/26/2014 1:40 AM bp-bf1c96c8-41c9-4d31-8ab5-bfa702140722 7/22/2014 1:53 AM bp-1f2a8bce-d81d-4787-963b-12fc62140721 7/21/2014 8:27 AM bp-cf0d5bda-eba6-4136-a2d4-16f8a2140720 7/20/2014 7:33 AM bp-a52127ed-7af1-451c-9f90-035912140719 7/19/2014 8:55 AM bp-1f3fe748-83f0-4cc3-b4aa-116832140718 7/18/2014 7:43 AM bp-05fa2d7e-3fd0-4c85-9438-99baa2140717 7/17/2014 9:14 AM bp-bf088755-fbdb-4057-a540-0f8652140717 7/17/2014 1:07 AM bp-85ecd6f5-b597-44a7-ab0a-81c002140717 7/16/2014 7:42 PM bp-34bd9248-4e5a-4dd3-b6c3-785c72140716 7/16/2014 2:23 PM bp-653fd874-a6f4-4fc7-aa33-2d8a92140715 7/15/2014 8:31 AM bp-782bd582-2e0c-4874-9385-c90c22140714 7/14/2014 3:59 AM bp-e58933b0-66ba-47d2-b63e-e5ea02140713 7/13/2014 2:25 AM bp-43993a58-f00d-4edb-a8e0-547df2140712 7/12/2014 10:50 AM bp-199adc3f-0e28-496c-9ddb-8f80c2140711 7/11/2014 6:13 PM a073ac9a-96c9-41be-9eee-a8317162bf7b 6/29/2014 9:32 PM bp-e4ea82dc-3eea-41ed-a3ef-fc8822140607 6/7/2014 11:55 AM bp-1a3f7b54-bbf9-4cd7-9d6c-7ba142140514 5/14/2014 12:22 AM bp-71e91c71-7b41-47d6-b658-cf5da2140511 5/11/2014 12:07 AM bp-1fcc50b8-68f0-4d62-8aa6-d421f2140507 5/7/2014 1:27 AM bp-3c04125c-ce89-4d6f-b8ad-ae22e2140507 5/6/2014 11:45 PM 633dcc82-d36b-4298-8640-c1f9a20b2619 3/1/2014 2:58 AM a95c9461-3cf2-4613-8813-98d5e169b698 2/4/2014 2:08 AM 8aa9d53a-f2f9-4f6d-9cd3-de3afd737186 2/4/2014 2:08 AM

Your reports vary but one of them says (the only 31.0 crash report) [OOM | Small] which indicates your crashes are caused by an out-of-memory issue, where some process in Firefox is using up all available memory causing the OS to abort the Firefox program.

I had wrote a lot more but since the rest of your crash reports are from 30.0 I figured they wouldn't matter. I'm sure another contributor will tell you what the crash reports mean regarding the 30.0 version of Firefox.

Since you're on XP, Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. I suggest you upgrade to at least Windows 7 so you can stay up-to-date as using XP is a security risk considering Microsoft ended all support.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Did you try Safe Mode?

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
