Yahoo email settings aren't being saved

Okay so I have two email addresses. One is an @rogers.com email address and the other is a @yahoo.ca address. They are also called accounts. For years now I have only used the @rogers.com email and the other one...well I don't even remember creating it, it is so old.

Now over the weekend something happened at yahoo and they added a drop down menu at the top of any email being sent or being replied to. The problem is it is defaulting to the @yahoo.ca address and not the @rogers.com address that I always use. There is an option under settings and then accounts that is supposed to allow you to set the default address for anytime you send or reply to an email. This is where Firefox is not working, the settings are never saved.

In IE the setting saves and there is no problem. In Chrome same thing. But Firefox the settings just won't save. At first I thought the problem was with yahoo email but have since learned that the problem is indeed with Firefox from some research on the internet and loading other browsers to see if they will save. Is there any fix for this?

I haven't used that feature on Yahoo but if you have to set up each browser separately, I suspect it sets a cookie in order to retain that information. Firefox's default setting is to allow and retain cookies, but there are many ways to clear cookies, such as only retaining them for the current sessions, clearing them at shutdown, or using add-ons or external software which modifies how cookies are handled. Can you think of any reason that Yahoo cookies might be getting lost when you exit and start up Firefox again?

Or if it's a regular setting that is supposed to work across browsers, maybe Yahoo's script doesn't work correctly in Firefox. Did you say you have seen other references to this problem?

Okay, I set up a second account. I switched my default account it back and forth a few times. One time it didn't save, I'm not sure what the problem was. The next time, after changing the default account drop down instead of saving immediately I went to the section with my signature and added and deleted a space and then clicked Save. It worked that time and the future switches saved. Seems a little inconsistent but hopefully by "changing" another field you can get Yahoo to recognize that a change needs to be saved.

Hmmm, no that didn't work for me. Won't save the settings. How long did your changes work for you?

Do you have Windows 8.1 ?

I have also tried disabling all addons...I only have 5. That didn't help either. I double checked this morning and IE is still using the proper settings I saved. Chrome also saves the settings properly. For some reason Firefox is not picking up the changes and saving them.

Okay, so on another page somewhere it suggested turning off full features and using the basic mail option. This works on Firefox consistently, it always defaults to my @rogers.com email account.....always....whether I am starting a new email myself or replying.

So I don't know anything about Firefox but the problem is somewhere in how it is interacting with the full features of yahoo email. They are running a script that it isn't picking up or something. Hope this gets fixed because I have to use basic email now, and although it is not a huge thing I would like to be able to use the full feature email.

When I tested, I never actually closed out of Yahoo mail, I just kept changing the setting and composing new messages, back and forth.

I also do not use Firefox or any extensions to fill in forms, in case that might be an issue.
