I'm having issues with this site and would appreciate any technical assistance that would allow me to watch video on this site.

Listed below are the relevant details.

The video won't load.

Video screen is grey.

Running Windows 7 with Norton Internet Security.

Have adjusted Firefox security settings and NIS settings as far as my knowledge extends, which is reasonable but not extensive.

Have added Jump In as a "trusted site"

I can watch normal web video and catch up video on all other TV channels & You Tube, just not Nine MSN including Jump In TV catch up.

Do not have Ad Block installed.

Running up to date Flash.

This site? http://www.jump-in.com.au/

You didn't mention the following things, which are what I would suggest next:

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run

After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

Any difference?

Hello and thank you for the very prompt reply.

I cleared the cache earlier, which I should have mentioned. I don't save cookies at all. The system was completely rebuilt a few weeks ago but this problem existed prior to that. I've done a start in "safe" mode and check the site again, to no avail.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say you don't save cookies. Do you block sites from setting cookies at all times, or do you let sites set cookies but then clear them when Firefox is shutting down? Some sites do not work correctly if you do not let them set cookies...

I usually clear them regularly, however the system is now set to clear them when Firefox shuts down. I don't block sites from setting them.

Do you let the cookies expire when you close Firefox or are you using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the cookies?

I'm using "clear history when Firefox closes".
