I would say its a firewall problem in avg or a feature in avg is conflicting with the firefox browser

To confirm whether Firefox is still installed on your system, try running it this way: on the Start menu, type or paste the following into the search box and press Enter: 

firefox.exe

Does Firefox start? Does it give you any error messages?
