how do I clear websites stored in the window bar'about:home' with the yellow star at the right hand end. I do not want this meemory to be stored.
I use Windows XP. I get a list of previously visited web sites when I enter data into the navigation tool bar (about:home...with the yellow star at the right hand end of it). I don't want to get this list of web sites due to privacy issues. I can't figure out how to delete it. I get an AVG search page after I enter stuff into Google which I also don't particularly want.

Entries in the location bar drop down list with a yellow (blue on Mac) star at the right end are bookmarks and those entries can't be removed from the location bar drop down list with the Delete key.
You can remove such a bookmarked item that shows in the list if you open that url in a tab and click the yellow star in the location bar.
This will open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog and you can click the Remove button to remove the bookmark if you want to remove such a bookmarked entry.

- Click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop down list
- Highlight an entry in the drop down list
- Press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.
Hi cor-el. Thanks for this. I have followed your directions I think. In the navigation bar that has "about:home" written in it, and the yellow star to the right - I have highlighted the web site address I want to delete, and pressed delete. It disappears. The deletion is only temporary. The website does disappear from the list, but reappears when the the first letter of the web site is entered into the navigation bar. I have closed and restarted Firefox, and the address is still there. So your advice does remove it, but it is still there, and still there next time I use Firefox. Hope that makes sense. Bert
You can do the same with entries in the location bar drop down list to remove an entry: highlight and press Delete
