How do I go back to a previous version of firefox? Ever since I upgraded to 4.0.1 the video has been choppy and freezes up while sound continues.

Nothing else has changed with the computer. All drivers and cards are working properly. If you want to watch streaming video it freezes up and skips even though sound plays normal.

  1. Go to Download Firefox v3.6.17 and download it to the desktop.

  2. Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).

  3. Then reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

  4. Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.

Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.

After you complete the installation, go to the Plugins Check page and update those where necessary.

Is there any security risk with this old version on FF? I cannot get FF to recognize Flashplayer and so am considering changing to the old version. Many thanks in advance for your response

Version 3.6.17 will be supported for quite a while yet, but the current version shouldn't prevent you from using Flash.

Try running Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit. Safe Mode leaves your plugins running and only disables your add-ons.

Can you see the Global Settings panel here: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager02.html ?
