About 35-40 messages in the inbox had listing headers but no info in the message. Only in the inbox. the othe messages in the inbox were OK as well.

I did read the whole thread, but didn't see any idea except 'repair inbox' but that didn't seem to make any difference. My issue with inboxed displayed number does not show messages for that number.

I use mailwasher, have done for years, it displays headers and you can keep or dump after scanning. Thundebird sometimes displays exactly what I wanted but sometimes dispays X as the number in the inbox but only shows Y somewhat less, of the messages.
