We need to install an add-on to edit subject line. It's listed on https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/search/?q=change+subject+line&appver=&platform=. Correction. click the addons menu and enter edit email subject in search window and download from there. I don't know what is wanting to verify the addon, possibly an antivirus? It works as is.

If you click the download button on the website, it will attempt to install the add-on in the browser, leading to the error message. Instead, right-click the button, Save Link As..., and download the xpi installer file. Then, install it in TB:
