Recently I downloaded the latest MAC operating system, MAC OS 10.15.6 (Catalina). After trying Firefox several times (unsuccessfully) I stripped it out and re-downloaded it. It opened and I used it once. After that I clicked on the icon and it never opened or if it did that wasn't obvious (no Firefox screen, etc.) Is there a basic incompatibility between Firefox 78.0.2 and MAC OS 10.15.6 (Catalina)?

I'm running the same setup (except my FF updated to 79 a few minutes ago) on a MacBooa Air and have no issues. Did you try clearing the cache? How about deleting Firefox, restarting the computer, and then reinstalling?
