I like the Quick Filter, but when I have a large folder, it pulls out the most recent match (which is usually the one I want), and then cranks and cranks and cranks on the WHOLE folder. Not so quick. Spinning beach ball galore. How do I STOP the Quick Filter, without just killing the whole program? As in, yep, you found it, now let me look at it.

More to the point, how can I search a date-limited piece of the folder with the Quick Filter?

This was asked earlier by someone else, but no real answer was obtained.

If you need a more fine-tuned method, use Classic Search (Ctrl+Shift+F, or Search from the folder context menu) as in the attached picture. If you perform the same search often, create a Saved Search from File/New.

Thank you. The Search in the folder context menu does offer more options, including a date range for the sort. That's helpful. Rather oddly, there still is no gentle way to stop an ongoing search. The Stop button in that Search pane sure doesn't stop anything. The search just barrels on and on and on, whether you want it to or not.
