How can I get rid of your begging banner across the screen? ( I have donated, because I used to like you -- not so sure now!)
Your plea for donations keeps blanking out the bottom of my screen when I am trying to read emails.

Well you have a multitude of option to stop that.
Personally I would just click on a email and it would disappear, replaced by the text of the email.
Or you could turn off the message reading pane entirely (F8) and read mail in new tabs or windows.
Or you could change the home page in options > general to nothing so the pane is blank.
