On Mac OS X, how can I create a new Firefox window in a specific profile from command line?

I have tried 

   /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -P <profile> -no-remote &

and 

  /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -P <profile> -no-remote -new-window <URL> &

but I always get the error: "A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time."

I have tried /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -P <profile> -no-remote & and /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -P <profile> -no-remote -new-window <URL> & but I always get the error: "A copy of Firefox is already open. That is not possible. You can't open a new tab or new window in a specific instance (profile) via the command line. You can only open a new window with a separate profile via the -no-remote command line switch.
