How do I get rid of certain book marks?

I have several individual book marks that I'd like to delete; but highlighting and clicking on Delete doesn't work. HELP! How do I get rid of these SITES currently listed in THE DROP DOWN BOOKMARK LIST??

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
