downloaded update no.1, no prompt for no.2, so unable to complete download of newer version Firefox

more options

Tried to update latest version Firefox a few times, have been

unsuccessful. there are 3 steps, I am able to see No.1 finish

No.2 says to wait for prompt to move icon to application folder

never get it, so unable to complete download, No.3 move icon to dock. So I click off, and every once in awhile I get Firefox asking
me to download the latest greatest update, some one told me
Apple wouldn't let let this happen , something to do with the
Flash Player, which separately have tried to download, but
was never successful. So maybe this new update isn't happening.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded

I am so confused I don't know whether I'm coming or going. The download was interrupted that I believe might have solved the problem since my Mac current support level (3.2) is a long way off from 12. How do I trash the current Firefox application and do the "clean reinstall"? I have tried to follow your instructions to the best of my ability but simply to not know how to perform everything you ask for.

Is there some way you can help get the current Firefox installed from level 7 and up as verizon seems to require to get my e-mails delivered? Somehow I think there is a installation of a flash drive that might be involved with this problem.

Hope to hear from you soon. Marian Nathan
