I can't find the location of a folder that might have been moved accidentally to another folder.

I searched for and found messages in the folder and know the folder's name, but it is now apparently a subfolder of another folder I can't find.

I think the folders are start off in alphabetical order when you first set up the account, but the order is actually arbitrary and renaming them doesn't cause them to move themselves into alpha order. In recent versions of Thunderbird they can be manually reordered by dragging and dropping, and in version 150 and newer, there's the option to "Reset Folder Order", which will re-alphabetize them. That option is found in the right-click context menu for each account in the Folders List.

"Global Search" is the one that searches everything, rather than the Quick Search which only searches the folder you're in. It's the large search box that's up top by default, though that can be changed. Here's an article about how to use it. The system is isn't as flexible as I would like, but it does the basic job well.

Use the Global Search feature if you haven't already. If the results come up as a timeline, click the "show results as list" link. Right-click on the message that was found and choose <Open | Open Message in Containing folder> and you'll be taken to that folder in the Folder pane.

Thanks for your quick reply! I don't know how to do a Global Search but it might be useful to learn if you how told me how to do it.

I did find the folder I was looking for, but it was out of alphabetical order, The folder's name is "Language" and it falls between folder names starting with "T" and "U". I renamed the "Language" folder by deleting the "L" and replacing it with "L", but that didn't correct its alphabetic location. I renamed it by deleting the "L" but "anguage" was still located between "T" and "U". Do you have any ideas why this might be happening?
